Bonnie Lee Ph.D

Dr. Bonnie Lee is Professor of Health Sciences in Addictions and Mental Health Counseling at the University of Lethbridge, Canada. She received the prestigious appointment of University Board of Governors Research Chair in 2016–2019 and is a Research Affiliate of the Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy.
A systems thinker grounded in complexity science, Dr. Lee developed the evidence-based Congruence Couple Therapy (CCT), which emphasizes the central role of couple communication in reducing addiction and mental health symptoms. In 2023, CCT was named a Distinguished Initiative by the Health Quality Council of Alberta.
She received the 2025 Professional Contribution Award from the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy. An interdisciplinary scholar and systems change advocate, Dr. Lee views families and society as mirrors of each other.
Her academic career has included seven international appointments across Canada, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
